Hamsters : Hamster Skin Infection

Skin Infection

A hamster may suffer from a skin infection resulting from mites, mange, ringworm, allergy or some other cause such as fungal infection.

The hamster may show signs of fur loss, irritated or flaky skin and excessive scratching or skin sensitivity. The fur should be inspected for signs of mites and consideration given to any change in the hamster's environment which could have caused an allergic reaction. If the cause of the skin irritation is not established veterinary advice should be sought.
