The mouse is extremely agile, being able to jump and climb, using its tail to balance and grip. They are also extremely inquisitive.
In the wild
In the wild the mouse lives in pairs or small groups, developing strong relationships with others in the pair or group. However, once mature they resent intruders and will chase away any other mice that wander into their territory.
They live in burrows and sleep for the most part of the day, although active for short periods. They are nocturnal and become fully active in the evening.
In Captivity
In captivity the mouse is a sociable pet and will live with another of its own kind if they are introduced when young. However, an older mouse (particularly males) may resent the addition of another mouse of the same sex and a fierce fight can occur.
