I have just thought, you say your neighbour had dogs before, can you ask if they would go round and play ball in the garden with him, or are they able to take him for a walk or take dog round to their garden and play with him there?

Oh.....Is he cute or what !!!!!!! JUlie.....All four of my dogs are rescued. Bluebell was abandoned, Topsy was straight off the street, literally...Hadn`t even eaten from a dish !! Millie had been very badly treated and had a dislocated back and jaw and Cassie was rehomed from people who had no time for her.

When rescued, Bluebell was about two years old, Topsy and Millie about a year old and Cassie 16 weeks. I had no bother introducing crates to any of them or any dogs I had before. They are great things...A must, in my opinion. If we take any or all the dogs in the car they are safely crated too.

I first had my crates when I became friendly with a Dachshund breeder ( still great friends) years ago when I had four Dachs. At first, I didn`t like the idea but she sold it to me hook , line and sinker and I`ve never looked back....So.....Off you go..Look on Ebay. Get a good sized one where Benji can turn round, stand up, lie outstretched in it.

A nice bedding fo a crate is Vetbed. If you buy any, buy the green back kind as it washes and dries in an hour ! The other backing takes a while to get dry. a blanket on top makes it really snug and cosy with some toys. You can also put a `throw` over the ouside of the cage to make it like a den.

I`m sure it would solve your problems. Don`t rush it, let Benji take his time and just go with him. he has been through a great deal and it does leave scars but he is lucky because he found you.

hi julie hows it going with the doggie jilly gave you some good advice i would definatly try this and do the tape thing i mentioned in my first reply make a tape of everyday noise and chitter chatter in the house and play on repeat whils out this really helped for my dog tobie and i also think letting himin the house might help as my dog used to get put in the kitchen when i was out and he would bark for hours so i gave him the run of the house and the barking has almost stopped he now only barks at noises like postman people out side the house but its not constant now. he may chew so i would put away anything you dont want destroyed put a cover over sofas ect or put the crate in the house somwere he likes like the living room like i said before if these dont work you could get a dog phycaiatrist in they do honestly help he may have a seperation anxiety or somthing similar and they will be able to help treat this with medication or if you prefer training with our old dog we used a combination of naturall medication and clicker training and this did help a lot he stopped the barking and almost stopped trashing the house he still did his pee pees but thats because he was a nervous wreck please try these things the crate is a great idea if you do it properly your doggie should be very happy in one good luck with him let us know how he gets on

HURRAH... We have moved Benji into the house, I feel so much better. He can look out the window to see if we are coming home and have a lovely sleep in 'the big bed' lucky dog. He has not chewed anything. I bought him another kong and fill it with treats, I do not make a fuss of him when i leave him and do not make a fuss when i get back (i read on the internet sometimes making a fuss of them reinforces the fact that being left is a BIG ISSUE.

Is he barking I DO NOT KNOW and quite honestly I feel a little bit annoyed at my neighbours. I went round to see if he had been barking and they said they had been out and therefore did not know. I said could they let me know over the next couple of days if he howls or barks. THEN she said they had been going to the garage and shouting 'SHUT UP BENJI'. They have not been round to let me know if he is quiet and quite honestly I feel that i have done enough running around. All I know is that Benji is happier.

Dave came home early today, cus when we come home he is sat on the 3rd step waiting for us, but today Dave said he crept upstairs and there he was spark out, legs in the air, head on the pillow, comfy cosy on the bed. BLESS

I love the way that if a dog keeps barking in the neighbourhood where we live people complain and it can end up with complaints and council butting in , but its alot different when the kids are running up and down the road screaming and shouting and bouncing their balls , no one moans about them(apart from me)
