These shows give rat owners a chance to meet and talk to other owners and breeders as well as compete in the show.

Most rat shows have classes for particular varieties of rats where the rats are judged against a standard for that variety. Shows often include a pets class where rats are judged on their overall condition and temperament enabling any rat owner to participate in the rat show with their rat.
